My major makes me happy to be furthering my education. The path I chose for my higher education and eventually my career path are exactly where I want to be. Before coming to Kutztown I thought I wanted to be an author and write books, but now I have realized that is not where I want to be at least not at this point in time. With a communication major I have room to grow whether it be in one direction or all over the place. So far on my journey I have found new ways to apply my passions to my work in the media realm.
I mentioned wanting to dabble in journalism which is something I was not focused on until I took a course at KU. It was not until I completed the course when I considered following through with my dream of being a writer. I was very pleased with the range that journalism offers with writing reviews, opinion pieces, and news stories. This is the class where I made my first blog which I still use currently update. We were asked to make an appealing blog with five collective posts. I chose to create a blog that is both informative and appealing by using my knowledge and experience of international travel.
I am very proud of my Wix Travel Blog because of how fun it was to design and the personal connection I have with it. I am elated to have a space to build practical content for readers I have built from my own experiences. A few of my posts include tips for how to pack, planning your trip, and figuring out where to stay. I use my own photographs capturing my favorite moments and destinations to decorate the website and establish my credibility.
Multiple professors have made a point of mentioning how strategic a blog is when applying to a job. Having a blog can prove your writing ability to potential employers the designing and writing skills included in keeping up with a successful blog. Having a blog with my major in communication and minors in public relations and social media strategy. I am happy to have the chance to share my experiences while building my resume.
